Hello my name is Clara. I spent 2 weeks in Berlin College and I would have stayed more. During my stay I met some of the most incredible people and had so much fun. Definitely a very memorable experience.
Upon arriving, the first thing that caught my eye were the colours of the buildings around the GLS Berlin College campus. It is a very colourful district with amazing nightlife and restaurants. You feel safe and it is very welcoming. Furthermore, the campus was very well communicated with the rest of Berlin. We could catch the M1 and M12 and they would leave us at the door of the campus!
A lot of people before coming may think of not attending the activities because they aren't compulsary. However, I suggest signing up to as many as possible as they gave way to the most amazing of memories and helped me to learn a lot more about Berlin. In the picture uploaded above you can see that one of the things we did was go on a paddle boat. It was an amazing sunny day and we had the best time racing and peddaling.
The classes at the campus never failed to entertain. You could connect with people you wouldn't usually talk to as well as learn new useful german. The teachers would include interactive games and everything!
In your stay everone you meet doesn't always stay at the campus. You'll find that some people stay in hotels or hostels partnering with GLS. They are only 10 minutes aways so its not really a problem. Furthermore, you can go there a play games like pool if you are done playing basketball, ping pong or table football at the campus.
Some of the best memories I have are playing pool!
The people you meet in your stay are also amazing. With the wide range of nationalities and cultures not only do you learn from them but you also make the most incredible of bonds and friendships. I consider myself very lucky to have met such wonderful people.
It took me a while to get used to the meal times. For me it is all a bit early but you get used to it. The food in the canteen is fine. There is a lot of pasta, a lot of burgers and a lot of chips. However, there is a salad bar where you can get some vegetables.
In the picture you can see some desserts.
You get a lot of freedom at the campus. As long as you go to the classes, you can do whatever you want (always being respectful of course).
There is a variety of activities you can sign up for. They vary from week to week. My favourite one was this one, we cycled along the Berlin wall.
Berlin as a whole is a reallu beautiful city. There are a lot of things to do soyou can never get bored. This was an activity we did before classes. We went to Punkt Panoramic where you could see the whole of Berlin.
The relationship you build with your teachers is also really something. Some classes you do outside or at the park.
